I am one of three directors at The Bureau Centre for the Arts CIC in Blackburn. Based in the oldest standing church building in Blackburn, which was deconsecrated in the 1970s before becoming the home of Citizen’s Advice Bureau and other local groups, we are working hard to build an accessible, inspiring and community based arts centre for the people of Blackburn and beyond. We are creating a place where people from the diverse communities of Blackburn can meet and create together and experience art in a safe and nurturing environment
In our third year now we have a gallery and artist studios, we host theatre and music performances, club nights, community events, a film club and have a veggie cafe. Our regular weekly programme includes tai chi, youth theatre, dark room and steel pan drums.
